I went into the movie not knowing anything about it besides what I’ve heard people say about it. I knew the director made Titanic and other great movies and that it was 3d. I had no idea what the story was about. Three quarters of the way through the movie, I was engulfed.
We saw the movie at the Jordan’s IMAX theater in Reading. We got there about 40 min before the movie and there was already a long line of about 50 people. We ended up getting great seats, almost in the middle, 3rd row from the top. The 3D at IMAX is a little annoying at first, but you get used to it. I think they need to improve on the glasses or something. Some of the time the motion looks blurry and its hard to focus.
The movie being almost 3 hours long didn’t feel like it. The story was very grabbing and easy to follow. I thought from watching the trailers that it would look cartoon like, but it didn’t at all. It wasn’t exactly real life looking but it was a good mixture of both. I thought it was really well done.
I hope the movie makes back what it took to make because I heard it took something like 300 million dollars to make. When you have Titanic cash, I guess you can blow it all on 1 movie. I think it will make it back and then some, but I was pretty spot on with my box office predictions based on how hard/easy it was to get tickets for it. Transformers 2 and Spiderman 2 were a hell of a lot harder to get tickets for and they are among the top 7 top weekend gross of all time. I originally said it would do about 75mil, then changed it to 80mil. I think its pretty close to that.
